Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "Ii" and say its sound /i/
• Recall the words igloo, ice, ice cream and insect
• Say the chant and the rhyme line "i / i / insect has no bones."
• Trace "i" with the correct stroke and the dot on top

Revision Activity 1: Cold Ice

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a bowl of ice cubes around
• When a learner touches the ice, they say "ice"
• Ask: "Is it hot or cold?" and let the learner answer
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 11 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: igloo, ice, ice cream, insect
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Chant Clap

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant and clap on each "i": "i / i / igloo, i / i / ice, i / i / ice cream"
• Learners say it in a loud voice, then a whisper, then a shivery cold voice
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 4: Little Insect

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the rhyme line: "i / i / insect has no bones."
• Learners crawl their fingers up their arm like the ladybird and repeat the line
• Ask: "What sound does insect start with?" Learners say /i/

Revision Activity 5: Air and Sand Tracing

Time: 7 minutes

• Draw a big "I" in the air together: down, then across the top and across the bottom
• Draw a small "i" in the air: short line down, then a dot on top
• Let learners trace "i" with a finger in a sand tray and poke the dot
• Check that every learner starts at the top

Revision Activity 6: Igloo Roof

Time: 3 minutes

• Show the igloo on page 11 and say: "An igloo is a house made of ice and snow"
• Learners make a round roof with their arms over their heads and say "igloo, /i/ /i/ igloo"
