Revision Objectives

• Recognise the big "D" and the small "d" and say the sound /d/
• Recall the words dragonfly, drum, dog and duck
• Say the chant "d / d / dragonfly, d / d / drum, d / d / dog"
• Repeat the rhyme line "d / d / duck makes a quack"

Revision Activity 1: Drum Beat

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a toy drum around
• Each learner taps it twice and says "d / d / drum"
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 6 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: dragonfly, drum, dog, duck
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Chant March

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners march like the boy with the drum
• Say the chant box from page 6 while marching:
  • d / d / dragonfly
  • d / d / drum
  • d / d / dog
• Repeat in a big voice, then a whisper

Revision Activity 4: Duck Rhyme

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners waddle like ducks
• Say "d / d / duck makes a quack" and finish with "Quack, quack!"
• Stop and count the three little ducklings on page 6

Revision Activity 5: Big D, Small d

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up a "D" card, a "d" card and a "b" card
• Learners say "big D", "small d" or "b" for each card
• Draw small "d" in the air together: round like a ball first, then up tall and straight down

Revision Activity 6: Finger Tracing

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners run a finger over the big red "Dd" on page 6
• Trace a big "d" in a sand tray or on the board
• Check that every learner makes the round part first
