Revision Objectives

• Recognise the big "C" and the small "c" and say the sound /k/
• Recall the words crow, cow, carrot and cat
• Say the chant "c / c / crow, c / c / cow, c / c / carrot"
• Repeat the rhyme line "c / c / cat always chases a rat"

Revision Activity 1: Carrot Pass

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a real carrot around
• When a learner holds the carrot, they say "c / c / carrot"
• Ask: "What colour is it?" and let the learner answer
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 5 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: crow, cow, carrot, cat
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Farm Chant

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant box from page 5, clapping on each "c":
  • c / c / crow
  • c / c / cow
  • c / c / carrot
• Learners repeat in a big voice, then a whisper
• After "crow" learners flap their arms; after "cow" they say "moo"

Revision Activity 4: Cat Rhyme

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners make little cat paws
• Say "c / c / cat always chases a rat" and creep forward like a cat
• Stop and point to the cat on page 5

Revision Activity 5: Big C, Small c

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up a "C" card and a "c" card
• Learners say "big C" or "small c" for each card
• Draw both in the air together: start at the top, curve round to the left and stop at the bottom

Revision Activity 6: Finger Tracing

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners run a finger over the big red "Cc" on page 5
• Trace a big "c" in a sand tray or on the board
• Check that every learner starts at the top
