Revision Objectives

• Recognise the big "B" and the small "b" and say the sound /b/
• Recall the words bicycle, banana, boy and butterfly
• Say the chant "b / b / bicycle, b / b / banana, b / b / boy"
• Repeat the rhyme line "b / b / butterfly flutters around the garden"

Revision Activity 1: Banana Pass

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a real banana around
• When a learner holds the banana, they say "b / b / banana"
• Ask: "What colour is it?" and let the learner answer
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 4 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: bicycle, banana, boy, butterfly
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Bicycle Chant

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners sit and pedal their feet in the air like riding a bicycle
• Say the chant box from page 4 while pedalling:
  • b / b / bicycle
  • b / b / banana
  • b / b / boy
• Repeat in a big voice, then a whisper

Revision Activity 4: Butterfly Rhyme

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners flap their hands like butterfly wings
• Flutter round the circle saying "b / b / butterfly flutters around the garden"
• Stop and point to the butterfly on page 4

Revision Activity 5: Big B, Small b

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up a "B" card and a "b" card
• Learners say "big B" or "small b" for each card
• Draw both in the air together: big B is a line down and two bumps; small b is a tall line down and a round tummy at the bottom

Revision Activity 6: Finger Tracing

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners run a finger over the big red "Bb" on page 4
• Trace a big "b" in a sand tray or on the board
• Check that every learner starts at the top
