Say "a" with your child. Ask your child to circle every letter A and a in the rows below.

Exercise B: Look and Say
Point to each picture in the textbook (page 3). Your child says the word. Tick the box when your child says it.

Exercise C: Match the Word to the Picture
Say each word aloud. Your child draws a line from the word to the correct picture.

Exercise D: Colour the Apple
Draw a big apple outline in the box. Your child colours the apple red and the leaf green.

Ask: "What is this?" Your child says "apple".
Exercise E: Trace the Letter a
Start at the top. Curve round like a ball, go back up, then go straight down.

Print these rows in a dotted tracing font, with a red dot at the starting point of each letter.
Exercise F: Say the Chant
Say the chant to your child. Your child repeats it.
"a / a / ant, a / a / apple, a / a / axe"
Now say the rhyme line together:
"a / a / aeroplane is above the tree"
Ask:
- What is above the tree? (the aeroplane)
- What is red and round? (the apple)
