Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter Y!

Look at the big red letters. This is big Y. And this is small y. Can you say it with me? Y, y!

The letter y makes a sound. It says y, y, y, like at the start of yes. Say it with me. y, y, y. Very good!

Now look at the pictures. Here is an egg that is broken open. Can you see the round yellow part? That is the yolk. Can you say yolk? Yolk! Yolk starts with y. y, y, yolk.

Here is a big animal. It is called a yak. Say yak. Yak!

Here is a yam. A yam is a vegetable, and here it is cut into slices. Say yam. Yam!

And look at this white boat on the blue sea. This boat is a yacht. Say yacht. Yacht!

Let us say all our y words together. Yolk. Yak. Yam. Yacht. Great job!

Now I have a question for you. What does a yolk contain? The yolk has good food inside it. It helps us grow big and strong. Yummy, yummy yolk!

Now let us draw the letter y in the air. Hold up your finger. Slant down to the middle. Now start on the other side and slant all the way down, down, down. That is y!

Let us do it again. Down to the middle. Then all the way down. y! Well done!

Look at the bottom of the page. There is a yak and a volcano. Which one starts with y? Yak! y, y, yak. Volcano does not start with y. So we tick the yak.

Let us remember what we learned today. The letter y says y, y, y.
