Revision Objectives

• Recognise the big "Y" and the small "y" and say the sound /y/
• Recall the words yolk, yak, yam and yacht
• Remember that a yolk contains good food for the body
• Pick out the yak as the picture that begins with "Y"

Revision Activity 1: Say Yes

Time: 3 minutes

• Learners say "yes, yes, yes" and listen to the first sound
• Then say /y/ /y/ /y/ together
• Say together: "/y/ /y/ yolk"

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 31 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: yolk, yak, yam, yacht
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Yacht on the Sea

Time: 4 minutes

• Learners sit in a line and rock side to side like a yacht on the sea
• Say "yacht" each time they rock
• Stop rocking and say "yolk", "yam", "yak" one by one; learners repeat

Revision Activity 4: Do You Know?

Time: 4 minutes

• Show a boiled egg or the yolk picture on page 31
• Ask: "What does a yolk contain?"
• Learners say: "Good food that helps us grow strong"

Revision Activity 5: Yes for y

Time: 5 minutes

• Say a word; learners say "Yes!" if it starts with /y/
• Use: yolk, volcano, yam, yacht, yak
• Stay quiet for volcano

Revision Activity 6: Air and Finger Tracing

Time: 4 minutes

• Draw a big "y" in the air together: slant down to the middle, then slant all the way down from the other side
• Let learners run a finger over the big pink "Y" on page 31
