Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter X!

Look at the big red letters. This is big X. And this is small x. Can you say it with me? X, x!

X looks like two lines that cross. Cross your arms in front of you. Now you are making an X! Very good!

X is a special letter. Listen carefully to how it sounds in our words today.

Here is a xylophone. It has lots of colourful bars. Ding, ding, ding! Can you say xylophone? Xylophone! Xylophone starts with x.

Here is a doctor holding up a picture of bones. This picture is called an X-ray. An X-ray shows the bones inside our body. Say X-ray. X-ray!

Look at this green tree with shiny balls, bells and a star on top. This is an Xmas tree. Xmas is a short way to say Christmas. Say Xmas tree. Xmas tree!

And here is an old ship with big sails on the sea. This ship is called a xebec. Say xebec. Xebec!

Let us say all our x words together. Xylophone. X-ray. Xmas tree. Xebec. Great job!

Now I have a question for you. When do Christians decorate the Christmas tree? They decorate it at Christmas time, in December. They put balls, bells and a star on the tree. How pretty!

Now let us draw the letter x in the air. Hold up your finger. Slant down this way. Now slant down the other way. The two lines cross. That is x!

Let us do it again. Slant down, and slant down. x! Well done!

Look at the bottom of the page. There is a banana and a xylophone. Which one starts with x? Xylophone! Banana does not start with x. So we colour the xylophone. Use lots of bright colours!

Let us remember what we learned today. X looks like two lines that cross.
