Revision Objectives

• Recognise the big "X" and the small "x"
• Recall the words xylophone, X-ray, Xmas tree and xebec
• Remember that Christians decorate the Christmas tree at Christmas
• Pick out the xylophone as the picture that begins with "X"

Revision Activity 1: Make an X

Time: 3 minutes

• Learners cross their arms to make an "X"
• Then cross two fingers, then cross two pencils
• Each time, everyone says "X, x"

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 30 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: xylophone, X-ray, Xmas tree, xebec
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: X Actions

Time: 5 minutes

• Say "xylophone": learners tap pretend bars, "ding, ding"
• Say "X-ray": learners hold up their hands like the doctor
• Say "xebec": learners rock side to side like a ship
• Say "Xmas tree": learners stand tall with arms out like branches

Revision Activity 4: Do You Know?

Time: 4 minutes

• Ask: "When do Christians decorate the Christmas tree?"
• Learners say "At Christmas" or "In December"
• Point to the stars and bells on the Xmas tree in the book

Revision Activity 5: Cross for x

Time: 5 minutes

• Say a word; learners cross their arms if it starts with "x"
• Use: xylophone, banana, X-ray, xebec, Xmas tree
• Arms down for banana

Revision Activity 6: Air and Finger Tracing

Time: 4 minutes

• Draw a big "x" in the air together: slant down one way, then slant down the other way
• Let learners run a finger over the big pink "X" on page 30
