Daily Lesson Plan -- Lesson 24
Letter Ww
Subject: English | Class: Nursery | Series: Leeds
Overview
This lesson introduces the letter "Ww". Learners look at page 29 and meet four words that begin with "w": watermelon, watch, wolf and water. They say the sound /w/ from the page, talk about the Do You Know question about whales and tick the picture that begins with "W". All talk is oral and playful. Learners are not expected to read or write words.

Wrap-Up (2 minutes)

Differentiation

- Play "Wiggle for w": say a word; learners wiggle their fingers if it starts with /w/ (watch, quail, wolf, water, watermelon, whale)
- Wave goodbye: "Bye-bye, wolf!"
Differentiation
- Support: Hold the learner's hand to make the tick; say "watch" together first
- Extension: Ask confident learners to name all four "w" pictures from memory
Teaching Tips
- To say /w/, round the lips like a small "o" and then open them quickly
- Whales are not shown on the page; describe them in words only
