Revision Objectives

• Recognise the capital and small letter "Qq" and say the sound /q/ ("kw")
• Recall the words quail, quill, quench and quiver
• Name the city of Pakistan that begins with "Q"
• Pick the picture that begins with "Q"

Revision Activity 1: O or Q?

Time: 4 minutes

• Hold up the "O" card and the "Q" card
• Ask: "Which one has a little tail?" Learners point to "Q"
• Say together: "Q says /q/"

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 6 minutes

• Open page 22
• Say a word and learners point to it: quail, quill, quench, quiver
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Q Actions

Time: 5 minutes

• Agree one action for each word:
  • quail: hop like a small bird
  • quill: write in the air with a feather pen
  • quench: drink a glass of water
  • quiver: reach back for an arrow
• Call out a word; learners do the action and say the word

Revision Activity 4: City Quiz

Time: 3 minutes

• Ask: "Which city of Pakistan begins with 'Q'?"
• Learners say "Quetta" and clap on the /q/

Revision Activity 5: Quill or Nurse

Time: 5 minutes

• Show the quill and the nurse from page 22
• Say "quill". Learners give a thumbs up for /q/
• Say "nurse". Learners give a thumbs down and say "/n/"
• Learners tick the quill on a fresh copy of the box

Revision Activity 6: Air Writing

Time: 3 minutes

• Draw a big "Q" in the air together: round like an "O", then a little tail
• Draw a small "q": round, back up, straight down below the line
