Look at the big red letters. This is big L, and this is small l. Small l is just a tall straight line. Can you say it with me? L!

The letter L makes a singing sound. Put the tip of your tongue up behind your top teeth and say l, l, l. Sing it with me. l, l, l. Very good!

Now let us look at the pictures. Every picture begins with L.

And here is a lantern. It glows with a warm, yellow light. Hold up your pretend lantern. Say lantern. Lantern! l, l, lantern.

Let us say all our L words together. Ladybug. Lunch box. Lipstick. Lantern. Great job!

Now I have a question for you. Which animal is the king of the forest? Think, think. It is the lion! Give a big roar. Roar! And guess what? Lion starts with l too. l, l, lion.

Now let us play a game. Here are four pictures. A lunch box, a jug, a lantern and a kettle. Which ones start with l? Listen. Lunch box. Yes! Jug. No, jug starts with j. Lantern. Yes! Kettle. No, kettle starts with k. So we join the lunch box and the lantern to the big letter L. Well done!

Let us draw L in the air with our finger. Go straight down. Now go across at the bottom. That is the letter L!
