Revision Objectives

• Recognise the capital "A" and small "a" and say the sound /a/
• Recall the words aeroplane, alligator, apple and ambulance
• Pick the picture that begins with "A" (apple, not cake)

Revision Activity 1: Apple Pass

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a real apple around
• When a learner holds the apple, they say "apple" and the sound /a/
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 3 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: aeroplane, alligator, apple, ambulance
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Act It Out

Time: 5 minutes

• Call out a word. Learners act it out and say it:
  • aeroplane: fly with arms out
  • alligator: snap arms like a big mouth
  • ambulance: make a siren sound
• Ask: "What sound does it start with?" Learners say /a/

Revision Activity 4: Yes or No

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up the apple picture and the cake picture from page 3
• Ask: "Does apple start with /a/?" Learners nod and say "Yes"
• Ask: "Does cake start with /a/?" Learners shake their heads and say "No"

Revision Activity 5: Big A, Small a

Time: 5 minutes

• Write "A" and "a" large on the board
• Learners draw each letter in the air with a finger
• Call a learner to point: "Show me big A. Show me small a."
